Famous Architects
To become a famous architect one doesn't need introduction to high society, but if it is one's wish he can do it. If we look into history we find many monuments, churches, Pyramids, palaces, castles which are still reminding us the great architects of past. Modern age has all the new technologies, and new concepts of building a construction. But the previous year's mystery of architecture makes it more beautiful and famous.
Before 18th century the monuments were built because of political ambitions. French architecture was based on both classical and baroque architecture emerged in the work of architects trained at Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Spectacular Paris-opera led the modernization of the city. Properties of new industrial materials and construction techniques were investigated by the pioneers like Henri Labrouste and Alexander Gustave Eiffel, whose Eiffel Tower is a symbol of Paris.
France was leader of the creation of a new 20th century aesthetic. The Swiss French architect Charles Edward Jeanneret pioneered a philosophy of functionalism in architecture that can be summarized as "Buildings are machines to live in."
You may be surprised by some of the names as famous architects like Thomas Jefferson, Leonardo da Vinci or Sir Christopher Wren. American architects who redefined the architecture are Louis Sullivan and Dankmar Adler with Wainwright building in St Louis, Missouri.
20th century explored exciting new innovations in the world of architecture which brought soaring skyscrapers and fresh new approaches to home design. Casa Mila Barcelona, an apartment building with a fanciful aura, wavy walls was designed by Antoni Gaudi. Architects Reed and Stern, Warren and Wetmore designed Grand central terminal building in New York with lavish marble work. 77 storeys Chrysler building by Chrysler and Empire State Building by Shreve, lamb and Harmon are some of the examples of sky scrappers. Jon Ultzon built Sydney Opera House in Australia and broke It is a freestanding sculpture of spherical roofs and curved shapes. Minoru Yamasaki designed the prestigious Twin Towers of World Trade center.
