When selecting home decor and furniture to match you should always keep in mind the centerpiece of the room. If you have a restored fifties antique furniture piece that you are using as the centerpiece then it is best to stick with furniture from that time period or accurate reproductions. Although always make sure you choose furniture to fit your lifestyle as well. If you have animals you will likely want to stay away from white or light colored furniture.
