The beds used were similar to the today's trampolines. George Nissen and Larry Griswold designed and constructed the first modern trampoline in 1934. By taking the inspiration from the circus trapeze artists, they manufactured the first trampoline with a stretched piece of canvas. The grommets were inserted along each side to the iron frame using the coiled frames. Now the trampoline has become a household item. It is also used for training the pilots and astronauts in variable body positions in the flight.

Jumping on the trampoline is an interesting sport. It is a competitive gymnastic sport that was included in the Olympic Games in 2000.
