One of the reasons why many individuals choose modern home decor is because of its simplicity. Modern home decor does not rely on a lot of texture and knickknacks. Rather modern home decor focuses on clean lines, sparse decorations and a planned contrast of color. The color used in modern decor is often dark; either tones of browns, reds, burnt yellows or even pearled white or silver. Often times the only essential furniture that is placed on the floor is the seating arrangements and perhaps a coffee or end table. The rest of the furniture is often placed on the walls and kept off the floor.

The artwork should have colors that help reflect the color chosen to use on the walls. You should only have a few pieces of artwork and they should be of adequate and proper size. There will often only be one or two pieces of artwork on alternate walls since you don't want a cluttered appearance when it comes to modern home decor.

As with everything else, it is best to select furniture that is simple. Often furniture will have leather or micro fiber since smooth fabrics are important to modern home decor. You often won't find ornate furniture as a part of modern homes. Furniture is often only a simple place to sit and nothing else. Coffee or end tables are often made of glass and simple is design, often just round or square. If there is additional chairs then the material will contrast with the couch.

While modern home decor is simple it still provides a classy appearance and feel to a room. When you choose modern home decor you will often go through great efforts to pick out the right pieces of furniture and decoration in advance to make sure everything contrasts nicely and provides the modern appearance you want. The entire home will have clean lines and there won't be a lot of knickknacks. Modern home decor is the best way to have good taste with simple furniture.
