Stone Verandah

A verandah is something that extends from a house. It could be on any side, either in front or back or one the sides of the house. A verandah is a fully roofed structure. Most of the times, the verandah opens out onto a front lawn or garden, which adds beauty to the house.

Adding a verandah adds an extra room to your house without spending too much on it.

A verandah is generally open on three sides and closed on one. According to Americans, the side verandah is called a Patio. Verandahs are great places to relax and spend time with your family, children and loved ones. Moreover, it is great place to spend your time at the end of a tiring day.

Verandahs can be made more attractive and beautiful by decorating them. Lighting can be made attractive to enhance the beauty of the verandahs. You can add a lot of potted plants to make the veranda lush and green.

Floor of the verandahs can be of different types. Tiles, terracotta's, stones, paved floors, etc are the various surfaces used for outdoor verandahs.

Of these, stone floors are the most ideal due to its ruggedness and easy maintenance. Moreover, stone flooring withstands extreme weather conditions.

Stones can be of many textures. Rugged surface is not advisable if there are children in the house as they will tend to get hurt if they fall. Granite stones are smooth polished stones which are also easy to maintain and look very attractive. These are available in a variety of colours. Marble is also a type of a stone which can be used for verandah floor, especially in hot and humid areas as these floors are cool.

Smooth natural stones give an elegant and stately appearance to the floor. Agglomerated tiles are not very expensive and are made of fragments of stones held together by resin. This flooring comes in attractive colours.

Making the verandah comfortable and cozy is a good idea as you can relax and spend time here either reading or playing with your children or just sitting idle.
