Vegetable garden can not be grown over night. You have to select the place first where you want to put vegetable garden. Then you have to dig the place to remove rocks or roots there. Then prepare the soil suitable for vegetation. After soil preparation you must consider to leave some space for a path. Then water the whole area to get the soil settled well.

The next thing you should consider is to make the soil rich and fertile. Ensure that you have taken steps to control pests and insects that are harmful o our plants. To make the soil fertile you can use either chemical fertilizer or organic methods. Chemical fertilizers include phosphorous, ammonia, nitrogen and so on. But you can prepare organic fertilizer by using fruit and vegetable wastes, egg shells, dry leaves, corn stalks etc.

When you are a beginner then you can start with the area of about 25 square feet that is not too small or too big. You have to consider the location has received proper sunlight. This is important because any plant requires at least 6 hours of sunlight daily to grow healthily. You must also check that the soil has sufficient moisture.

You can create a nutritional environment for your plants even before you start gardening. You just till the land and put the compost there to get a rich soil. Then you have to decide which vegetables to grow in the garden. You can select vegetable plants that your family likes most and those plants you can grow easily. Tomatoes, chilies and corn plants are normally easy to grow.

Many people like to grow greens, onions and radishes as they can be grown easily and will yield produce soon. But remember these are seasonal plants and you can get yield for long term.

After getting some experience in vegetable garden you can tart growing new plants in larger area. Growing vegetable garden is not a difficult task. But you must remember that your plants need plenty of water and sun light. You can not grow vegetable garden in shady places because all the vegetable plants require adequate sunlight. You can harvest the vegetables from your garden with hand tools.
