You can water the vegetable garden in several ways. There are number of equipments available in the market to water your vegetable garden. Some famous methods are garden hose, fan nozzle, sprays, water can, and sprinklers and so on. You can also use drip irrigation methods to water the vegetable garden so that you can save much water.

Watering small gardens:

You can water the small garden with water can or hose. When watering with the hose you should remember not to over water the plants since it will cause fungus to grow in the plants. You should water the plant in its base and not in the leaves. Over watering may also lead to soil erosion and thus the plant can not grow healthy.

Watering wide areas:

Sprinklers are ideal for watering wider area. They are the convenient way of watering vegetable plants. They do not damage the roots since over watering is restricted here. But watering with sprinklers is not suitable in hot summers. This is because the sprinkler will allow droplets of water which will be evaporated soon in summer and so the plants will not get sufficient water.

Normally vegetable garden requires one inch of water. However vegetable garden in sandy soil requires 2 inches of water. But if your garden is nearby any water source you can reduce the amount of water. You can use mulches so that plants require only less water since mulching prevents evaporation.

Drip watering for vegetable garden:

You can use drip watering system to conserve water. You can use hose and mesh filters that drain water through the pores. The cost of drip watering system is cheaper than other methods. You can use this method to water large area in the garden. You will observe that only fraction of water is required in drip system when compared to other systems. You can place the system any where you like and you can do other gardening work while the system is watering the garden. The drip system waters only at the base of the plant and keeps the leaves dry. This will prevent many diseases. You can water the wider area at the same time and thus it saves time, money and energy. You can utilize this method to grow healthy vegetables in your garden even in hot summers.
